Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026. This policy applies to the SafariCab rider app and the SafariCab Driver app ("SafariCab", "we", "us").
SafariCab connects riders with drivers for transport and delivery. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account details — name, phone number, and (optionally) email, provided at sign-up.
- Location — precise GPS location to set pickup points, match you with nearby drivers, navigate trips, and show live tracking. Drivers share location while online; riders share location while booking or on a trip.
- Trip data — pickup/drop-off addresses, stops, route, fare, and ride history.
- Payment information — when paying by card, payments are processed by our payment provider (Paystack). We do not store full card numbers.
- Driver documents — for drivers: vehicle details and verification documents (e.g. licence, ID, good-conduct), used for approval and safety.
- Device & notification data — a push token to deliver ride and trip notifications, plus basic device/diagnostic data.
How we use it
- To provide the core service: request, match, navigate, and complete rides and deliveries.
- To process payments and driver commission/payouts.
- To send ride requests, trip updates, and safety alerts.
- To verify drivers and keep the platform safe (including SOS/emergency features).
- To improve reliability and support.
Sharing
- Between the rider and the assigned driver for the duration of a trip (name, approximate location, vehicle/contact details needed to complete the ride).
- With service providers that power the app: hosting/database (Supabase), payments (Paystack), and push delivery (Google Firebase).
- When required by law or to protect safety.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Location permission
Location is used while you are using the app to provide rides and navigation. You can disable location in your device settings, but core features will not work without it.
Data retention
We keep account and trip data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal/tax obligations, and resolve disputes. You can request deletion of your account and associated data (see Contact).
Your choices
- Access, correct, or delete your account data by contacting us.
- Turn off notifications or location in your device settings.
Children
SafariCab is not intended for users under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy and will revise the "last updated" date above.
